Record storms in Britain (14 jun 12)

I rode up to over 3000 metres in Colorado, taking advantage of the warmest winter in fifty years. Now I'm doing a bike tour of SW England, just as it gets its wettest June in a hundred years.

"If the sun don't come you get a tan from standing in the English rain" - the Beatles

I only got ten miles today, from St. Austell to Newquay. Fingers cold from driving rain. Like it was when I began in Montana in mid-April.

But now its mid-June. www.metoffice.gov.uk ('weather and climate change') says

"Yellow Warning of severe weather has been issued

  Regions affected:

Wales, South West England, North West England, West Midlands, East Midlands, Yorkshire & Humber, London & South East England, Northern Ireland"

The papers forecast there might be three months' rain in the next four days - perhaps the worst June storm in fifty years. So I'm going to make a dash for St. Agnes tomorrow morning - weather permitting.

Further evidence of the great anti-Rod conspiracy:

Tottenham Hotspur has just fired Harry Redknapp, their most successful manager since Keith Burkinshaw. This is a disaster.
