Stonehenge (05 jun 12)

Rode from 'The Golden Swan' pub, which has a campsite, in Wilcot. Pewsey - Everleigh - Salisbury plain - watch for tanks and unexploded shells - Netheravon - Milston - Bulford - Amesbury - find the footwalk which leads to Stonehenge avoiding riding on the A-303 - cross the A-303 with extreme care - W Amesbury - Lake - Upper, Middle and Lower Woodford - Salisbury

Wimping out in a hotel in Salisbury. The maximum is only 14° C. After paying £100 for two nights at the pleasant but cramped City Lodge, discovered the Youth Hostel, which occupies a wonderful garden near the centre of this mediaeval cathedral city. Will move there tomorrow. They do have camping, but I opted for a room at £28 per night. The reason:

"Rather cool and unsettled. Another band of rain will cross the region on Thursday with further showers thereafter, perhaps drier Saturday. Risk of gales on Friday and Saturday particularly coasts." says the BBC.
