"In 1946 Clough failed his Eleven-plus exam". The 11-plus was an exam taken by all British schoolchildren at the age of 11 which, according to the pseudoscience of "intelligence testing", distinguished the elite from the predetermined underclass. I passed it. Cloughie went on to become one of the greatest football coaches.
