On February 1 1953, the east coast of Britain suffered severe flooding, which killed over 300 people. That was sixty years ago, where man-made carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere were much lower than today. If it happened today, it would be used as evidence of the CO2 problem. But the Guardian implies that events of sixty years ago are evidence for increasing likelihood of extreme weather. Doesn't it show the opposite? http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2013/jan/31/east-anglia-new-risk-sea Some of the comments are even more stupid than the article. One commenter claims the floods of 1953 are "a sobering reminder that the probablilty of extreme weather events is increasing annually". If anything, they are the opposite.
