Scientist blames media (10 feb 12)

"All too often in the past, media reports have presented a 'black and white' view of glacier response to climate change. This may appeal to some, depending on their respective agendas, but scientists have long recognised the complexity of the situation. The reasons for this complex global picture are not clear: some places warm more than others, some places experience more precipitation and, hence, snowfall to maintain glaciers is in positive or neutral balance. What is clear is that more research is required to evaluate the response of glaciers to climate change."

If this scientist is right, it's not just the media who have been wrong. The whole climate 'science' establishment hasn't 'recognized the complexity of the situation'. They have not said it's "not clear" - they've aggressively promoted the view that it's as clear as day, and that those who said it's not are either being bribed by the oil industry or mentally disturbed. It's true that real scientists are 'clear' that 'more research is needed', but the people promoted as scientists by the Guardian and most of the rest of the media are not. The article should say that the charlatans at Penn State and the UEA have been exposed, not try to give them an opportunity to slyly change the party line without admitting it.
