"Males hatch from unfertilized eggs, getting their genes only from their mother. Male ants always pass on the same genes, thus when a queen mates her daughters get all the same genes from the father, plus half of the genes from their mother - meaning all female ants in a colony have three quarters of their genes in common with each other."
